SORGEP is a hybrid (online and in-person) mentoring program that aims to build an effective and sustainable bond by matching university students (Stars) with 10-year-old children one-on-one. The goal is to establish a follow-up system focused on responsibility, values, and social harmony. The project also aims to enhance competencies such as taking personal responsibility, developing empathy, and managing life.
In this context, Stars gain numerous skills such as communication, leadership, and time management through professional training modules, while also having the opportunity to apply this knowledge in the field by mentoring a child. The 10-year-old children, on the other hand, develop self-confidence, empathy, and social skills. Through a trust-based bond with their Star, they receive emotional support, increase their motivation to learn, and thus prepare for the future with more solid steps.
Star candidates are selected through applications and interviews. Each Star is assigned a maximum of 4 students. Matching is carried out meticulously by a specialized team considering age, interests, and regional compatibility.
The professional trainings provided by our expert team within the project are divided into modules over a span of 3 years.
SORGEP's activity plan is designed in line with children's developmental stages. Weekly in-person or online meetings are held between Stars and children. These meetings help improve children's social skills and foster a safe communication environment.
Workshops and events organized within the program allow children to explore their interests and develop their talents. In addition to activities like sports, art, and crafts, visits to institutions such as governorates, municipalities, factories, and nursing homes increase social awareness and reinforce a sense of responsibility.
Furthermore, the virtual library and online workshops, which provide access to digital resources, make it easier for children to reach information and support their learning processes. In this way, children continue their personal development while also strengthening their social and emotional skills through the mentoring relationship.
Stars are responsible for planning and reporting designated activities. The Project Coordinator receives weekly and monthly reports from each Star. Parents are invited to regular information meetings throughout the process, and all data is protected in accordance with privacy policies.
